Every year, PCE carries out activities for Global Action Week, an annual week pledged to raise awareness for education, by the Global Campaign for Education (GCE). Global Action Week is one of the major focal points for the education movement. It provides every national and regional education campaign with an opportunity to highlight one area of the “Education for All” agenda and make targeted efforts to achieve change on the ground, with the added support of education campaigners and millions of members of the public worldwide joining together for the same cause. During Global Action Week, PCE carries out different activities at both the district and the national level, under a particular theme (set by GCE).

 

Global Action Week 2017

Pakistan Coalition for Education commemorated the Global Action Week 2017 from 23rd to 29th April. The theme for this year was based on the agenda of “Vote for Education”. In collaboration with its member organizations, PCE helped inaugurate seminars, consultative dialogues, participatory meetings and awareness walks in 14 districts of Pakistan. The main aim this year was to highlight the imperative need to vote for a party that will prioritize education in its party manifesto. A wide variety of education stakeholders gathered to discuss the various gaps in the education sector and drafted different recommendations that can mitigate the prevalent issues.

Global Action Week 2016

Pakistan Coalition for Education announced the Global Action Week activities 2016 based on the theme of ‘Education Financing’. The member organizations were responsible for carrying out activities at the provincial and district level across Pakistan. Budget consultations were organized by our coalition members across Pakistan with the primary aim of discussing the financing of district education budgets. During these consultations, educational budget was thoroughly discussed in terms of highlighting the current status, past trends and future needs of the budget

Global Action Week 2015

This year the theme for Global Action Week was “Vote for Education”. As a member of Global Campaign for Education from Pakistan, Pakistan Coalition for Education (PCE); being a network of diverse civil society members, actively supported the campaign by organizing child led peaceful protests in all provinces through its member organizations across Pakistan. The member organizations organized walks and arranged seminars in order to create a sense of awareness among the masses and all concerned stakeholders regarding education, especially inclusive education.

The member organizations organized walks and arranged seminars, public demonstrations and consultative sessions with the legislators in order to create a sense of awareness among the masses and all concerned stakeholders regarding education, especially inclusive education.

Global Action Week 2013

This year the theme of the Global Action Week (GAW) was ‘every child needs a teacher’, it is to celebrate the impact teachers have on children. In Pakistan GAW was carried out by Pakistan Coalition for Education (PCE), GCE’s official partner in the country. For Global Action Week 2013, we wanted maximum representativeness from all areas of we invited teachers and students from very diverse schools. Students were invited from both high-end and low-end private schools, as well as non-profit schools for street children. PCE organized walks, competitions and awareness campaigns in order to enlighten the masses as to how they can play their part in overcoming the educational dilemma.
